So what is "The Fast Lens" all about? Simply put, this site was born out of my love of art, photography and fast machines. I enjoy turning photos into great works of art that owners like you can be proud of.
I should start from the beginning...
A few years ago I became the proud owner of my dream car: a cherry red 1976 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. As any father does with a new baby, I began taking lots of pictures, admiring every angle at all times of day, and making them my desktop wallpaper so I could stare at them all day at my day job as a graphic designer. Armed with my Nikon D80 professional digital camera and accessories, I was quickly building a veritable catalog of photos.
Soon I began to enhance my photos with software programs I'd come to know extremely well over 20 years in the creative arts field. At first the enhancements were subtle--some sharpening here and fading there, removing a pesky reflection or two. Gradually I took things a step further. I began removing the car completely from its background. Sometimes for fun I would even change the paint color completely. At other times I would make it appear as if she was in an electrical storm complete with flashing lightning, or I would have her look as if she were sitting all alone in a thin pool of shimmering water lit by the light of the moon. With an artistic eye and state-of-the-art tools, my process of turning ordinary car photos into works of art had begun.
Since that time I have created many memorable works of art for clients who love their machines. Please enjoy your visit here to The Fast Lens and its galleries and check out the “services” tab at the top of the page for a more detailed outline of what we do. If you or someone you know loves their car, bike or boat, consider giving yourself (or them) the truly unique and memorable gift: a customized portrait of their true love. And take it from me: I know how you feel. I’m not just the studio’s owner; I’m a client, too!
Sincerely,
Scott Withers, AIGA
